2026 ACB Conference and Convention

Volunteers Needed

July 23 - August 1, 2026

 

Rewarding Service Opportunities:

Approximately 700 blind and visually impaired people from across the United States and several foreign countries will attend the 2025 conference and convention of the American Council of the Blind at the Hyatt Regency St Louis Arch Hotel in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Over 150 meetings, workshops, seminars, tours, and social events will fill convention week. A fantastic exhibit area will feature a wide range of technology, products, and services for individuals who are blind and visually impaired.

Attendees will begin arriving on Thursday, July 23, and the last weary visitors will depart on Saturday, August 1.

 

How You Can Help:

Here are some ways you and your group can help:

  • Welcome visitors to Saint Louis at the airport
  • Help attendees find booths in the exhibit hall
  • Assist participants in locating microphones during sessions
  • Act as guides on tours
  • Aid attendees in finding meeting rooms.

 

Who Can Help:

  • Boy and Girl Scouts - ROTC- BETA Clubs
  • Sunday school classes and youth groups
  • Employee and neighborhood organizations
  • Firefighters, police officers, and metro employees
  • Civic groups like Lions, Rotary, Elks, and Masons
  • Fraternities, sororities, and students
  • Individuals, relatives, and friends

 

The Schedule:

Airport: July 23 through July 25 and July 31 through August 1.

Hyatt Regency St Louis Arch Hotel, 315 Chestnut Street, St Louis, MO. Every day from July 23 through August 1 (peak volunteer days at the hotel are July 24 through July 30; some volunteers needed on July 31 and August 1).

 

The Rules:

Volunteers should be able to work a three to four-hour shift.

Volunteers must be clean, hair must be neat, and dress must be appropriate. no halters or low-cut tops, cut-offs, short shorts.  Underwear must not be showing and clothing with holes or excessively baggy pants are prohibited.  Shoes and shirts are required.

ACB cannot accept responsibility for supervising volunteers under 18 years of age.  Underage volunteers should be accompanied by a parent or adult group leader who can permit the youth's participation.  Volunteers must be at least 13 years old.  No babies or young children, please.

 

Special Recognition:

All volunteers will receive a 2026 ACB convention certificate of appreciation. Students and others needing service hours may have forms completed and signed at the Volunteer Desk.
